Businesses of all sizes are always on the lookout for ways to save money. Taking a closer look at your telecom expenses is a great move, but unfortunately many businesses never do anything about them because lowering telecom expenses on your own can be a difficult and time consuming process. There are easier ways to save though
Lowering Telecom Expenses
An easy way to save is to move some of your services to a competitor.
When you move some of the services to a competitor this lets your provider know that you’ll do whatever is necessary to keep your telecom costs as low as possible. It is a great wake-up call to show you’re willing to work with competitors – and that makes them nervous.
This particular option is good if you’ve already tried talking to your own provider about lowering costs but to no avail. Some telecom companies treat contract negotiations like a poker game. They think that if you threaten to move services, you’re merely bluffing. They’ll call your bluff by not working with you to get to the price point you need. After all, they don’t want to lower the price any more than they have to.
It’s for this reason that sometimes the best option isn’t to “threaten” to leave, but to show them that you’re serious about lowering costs. If you move 10% of your service to a competitor, your representative will reach out to ask you why you’ve moved that business. You can respond by letting him or her know that, while you like working with them, your bottom line is ultimately what matters the most.
This usually secures a quick response because it hits them where it hurts the most – recurring revenue. If their commission is based on the revenue you’re billed each month, then you’ll get their attention very quickly.
